I think it's time for a little FACTUAL history lesson. Let me say UP FRONT that I am NOT and have NEVER been a Dubya supporter. I believe he will go down in United States history as the WORST POTUS this country has ever or will ever see.
That said, his remarks to the Israeli Knesset yesterday were not only FACTUALLY correct, his reference was not a slam at a Democrat or even BO, but rather a REPUBLICAN.
"Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along," Bush said. "We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: "Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided..
In this supposed attack on a Dem and specifically BO: The sentence is in the PAST TENSE, as in when the Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939 an American Senator SAID. If anyone had bothered to google the "Lord, if I could..." quote, they would have seen that the American Senator Bush was referring to was in office in 1939 (not a Presidential primary candidate in 2008) and he was Sen. William Borah, an Idaho Republican at the time.
Now I know I'm going to get the "You know he was taking a subtle shot at BO..." My question then becomes, why is it ok to make the leap that this was an attack on BO, but it is not ok to make the leap that BO has used the race card in this campaign? Has he said anything directly racist? No. Have there been the comments not so subtle with the outrage of saying anything that automatically becomes racist? YES. And he used it as a wedge to change the playing field in his favor, IMHO, inexcusably.
Hillary Clinton was FACTUALLY correct when she said it took a leader to get the 1964 Civil Rights Act passed. It was in NO WAY racist or a slam against MLK, Jr. Read up on what LBJ had to go through to get the legislation passed. Hillary was only commenting on the fact that it takes a leader to get things accomplished. She was making the analogy to her own capabilities as a leader, but MAN the KNEE JERK shot out and BO was wailing Racist and insensitive remarks, yada, yada.
Bill Clinton was FACTUALLY correct when he said that Jesse Jackson, won SC TWICE. Only two other Dems have done so. Can you guess who they were??? NO? Let me help---John Edwards and BILL CLINTON. If he had said Edwards (who was still in the campaign at the time) he would have been touting one of his wife's opponents. If he had said himself, he would have been vilified for having such an overblown ego. But... KNEE JERK shot out and Bill was making racist and offensive remarks about an AA candidate and why he got the majority of SC voters. It just had to be that Bill was saying BO's skin color won him SC. Yada, yada, yada.
Bush refers to the comment made by a REPUBLICAN senator in 1939, and KNEE JERK shot out immediately that he had to be slamming BO. Sorry folks, everthing is NOT about BO despite the fact that he believes the universe revolves around him, and not everything said by white folks is racist. Hillary gets an overwhelming white vote in a predominently white populated state and it's because they are racists in WV. BO gets 90% of the AA vote and it's not a racist vote against Hillary.
These things I believe are the kinds of things that have so turned me off to this Primary. The DOUBLE STANDARD. And before you attack me and say "but your candidate came out and slammed Bush for his comments and defended BO and the Dem Party..." I was disappointed that she did. I don't agree with her decision to do so. Biden's blowing his head off his neck is understadable... the faux outrage is just that. It was more about an opportunity to slam Bush with "cover."
Again, I think Bush is a disgrace as POTUS. He should be impeached and tried for war crimes. That's how much I like the guy folks. But, his comments are no more offensive than any other subtle undermining of an individual's character, and the scales have been hanging way down on one side with this tactic piled on Hillary Clinton. And you know what? She is a strong lady. She is brilliant. From her comments today during her phone in with bloggers, she is intimately aware of the vitriolic BS attacks against her, and just keeps keepin' on. She earnd my admiration a long time ago, holding her head up and keeping the goals in focus since way back. Now I not only admire her, I am INSPIRED BY her. I wouldn't trust anyone else from this campaign season in the White House. I do absolutely trust the Presidency in her hands.
